Approximately halfway between Valencia and Alicante on the Mediterranean coast of Spain only some 15/20kms from the coast itself, lies the wonderful Jalon Valley.
The Sunday Times (Oct 2001) describes the Jalon Valley and the adjoining Orba Valley as having some of the prettiest countryside in the whole of the Iberian peninsular. Others have
described it as the jewel in the crown of the
Costa
Blanca.
The old town of Jalon lies in the centre of the valley on the river Jalon amidst green vineyards, orange and lemon groves and, on the surrounding terraces, almond and olive orchards stretching up to the Sierra Bernia mountain range (3600') which holds interesting birds and
other wild and plantlife.
